March 2024 – Families of the Mormon Battalion

In 1846, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were recruited into the US military during the Mexicn-American war. These men were part of a pioneer group destined for Utah. A few dozen women and children separated from the body of pioneers and joined a few hundred men on a military march to California. This month’s lesson looks at the families of the men that joined the military known as the Mormon Battalion.
